Annual Action Plan and Review Workshop of NICRA-KVKs of ATARI Zone VIII held at KVK Baramati (Pune)

Annual action plan and review workshop of KVKs involved in the Technology Demonstration Component of NICRA in Zone VIII was held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra- Baramati on 3rd July 2017. The meeting was organised by ICAR-ATARI Pune and ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad. The workshop was chaired by Dr N.P.Singh, Director-NIASM Baramati and Co-chaired by Dr V.P.Chahal, ADG (Agricultural Extension). Dr Rajender Reddy in his welcome address spoke about the significant achievements of various KVKs in the zone. Dr N.P.Singh emphasised the need for working closely with the farming community for the assessment and the spread of technologies and informed about the initiatives being planned to address the issue of abiotic stress in crops of the region. Dr K Sammi Reddy, Acting Director (ICAR-CRIDA) spoke about the technology demonstration component of NICRA, the significant achievements so far and the aspects to be focused in the next three years. Dr Lakhan Singh, Director, ATARI Pune spoke about the KVKs involved in the zone and emphasised the need for scaling up of the proven resilient practices. Dr Kokate, Director of Extension, MPKV, Rahuri presented about the avenues available for the dissemination of climate resilient practices in the state and also the extension initiatives being taken up by the university in the state of Maharashtra. Dr Chahal spoke about the agriculture contribution of greenhouse gases and the need for involving other KVKs on the climate change aspects and the need for scaling up of proven adaptation and mitigation measures. Dr JVNS Prasad, Co-PI, TDC-NICRA spoke about the approach for scaling up of the proven resilient practices in the NICRA villages which is to be adopted in the next phase of NICRA.
The meeting was attended by KVKs involved in the NICRA programme in the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat and also the subject matter specialists of these KVKs. During the day KVKs presented the consolidated achievements of the NICRA programme in the last 6 years and the action plan for the next year 2017-18.
