Abstract/Description: | A field experiment was conducted during rabi of 2010-11 to study the response of sweet corn to different sources of organic manures like urea, sheet manure, poultry manure, green manure Panchagavya and FYM alonr or in combination on growth, yield and quality parameters. Among the different manurial practices, recommended dose of nitrogen through urea (T 1-F N 100) were registered highest growth parameters (plants height, leaf area index and dry matter production), yield parameters like (cob length; girth and weight of corn) and quality parameters (protein, carbohydrates , reducing sugars, non-reducing sugars, total sugars, iron and zinc). While the all growth, yield and quality parameters were recorded lower with the application of 100% N through green manuring (T 5-GM N 100). The higher green cob yield of 3930 kg ha – 1 and green fodder yield of 15951 kg ha –1 were recorded with the application of 100% recommended dose of nitrogen through urea, respectively (T 1-F N 100). The lowest green cob and green fodder yields of 1,769 kg ha –1 and 8,795 kg ha –1 were recorded, respectively with T 5 (GM N 100). |
