dc.description.abstract | The soil moisture content decreased with increase in lateral and dripper spacings depths. The soil moisture at both depth was significantly higher in 8 lph as compared to 4 lph dripper discharge rate. Among the methods, mini-sprinkler (MS) maintained higher moisture content (33.43%) in surface layer as compared to drip (31.87%) and surface (28.51%) methods. In contrast, in subsurface layer drip and surface methods showed higher moisture content in comparison to MS method of irrigation. Irrespective of lateral and dripper spacings, the soluble salt content in surface layer (0–15 cm) increased with increase in distance from dripper. However, in the case of subsurface layer (15–30 cm), the EC values decreased with increase in distance from dripper. Due to optimum availability of moisture and nutrients with closer lateral and dripper spacing, the onion yield was significantly higher. | en_US |
