Abstract/Description: | A lab and field experiment on integrated moisture stress management in wheat was conducted at Agronomy Research Farm, CCS Haryana Agricultural University Hisar during rabi seasons of 2010-11 and 2011-12. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with three replications. There were 24 treatment combinations consisting of four moisture regimes as main plots and six moisture stress management practices as sub-plots. Four moisture regimes were S,-CRI (irrigation at crown root initiation)+100 mm CPE (cumulative evapotranspiration), S2-CRI+150 CPE, S3-CRI+200 CPE and S4-CRI and six moisture stress management practices were M 1 : No moisture stress management practices, M2 : Seed hardening (SH) by CaCl2, M5 : SH+KC1 spray at 90 DAS, M, : SH+Mycorrhizae application at sowing+KCl spray at 90 DAS, M5 : SH+Mycorrhizae+KCl spray at 90 DAS+Kaolin spray at 115 DAS and M6 : Pusa hydrogel (3 kg/ha) at sowing. Further in lab experiment seeds after harvest of crop from field experiment were collected separately from the different treatments and analyzed for germination percentage, seedling length and seedling vigour index. The result of the lab experiment revealed that germination percentage, seedling length and seedling vigour index during both the crop seasons were significantly highest in S1 over other moisture regime and which was followed by S2 and S3, and lowest was recorded by the treatment S4. Among the integrated moisture stress management practices, highest germination percentage, seedling length and seedling vigour index were recorded in M5 followed by M4, M3, M5 and M6. The lowest germination percentage was recorded in M1. Grain yield, straw yield and biological yield for both the crop seasons were higher in S1 moisture regime followed by S2 and S4, and lowest was recorded by S4. Similarly, grain yield, straw yield and biological yield for the crop seasons of 2010-11 and 2011-12 were higher in M5 integrated moisture stress management practices over other treatment followed by M 4, M3, M5 and M6 and lowest was recorded M1/inf>. |
