dc.description.abstract | The experiment was conducted to find out the effect of polycontainers on germination, seedling vigour, root characters and budding success in aonla propagated through patch budding. The pooled nalysis of data indicated that perforated polybags (40 cm x 15 cm) were better than polytubes (25 cm x 10 cm) with respect to germination, root characters, per cent availability of budable stock and budding success, though the seedling vigour was more in polytubes (40 cm x 15 cm). It was also observed that girth of rootstock matrix should be more than 0.50 cm during budding for better success. The seeds sown in perforated polybags were ready for budding in July, hence about 6 month time can be saved against conventional of Horticulture method (budding on one-year-old rootstock). Through patch budding, more than 90% success can be obtained by the use of perforated polybags for raising rootstocks under irrigated hot arid ecosystem. | en_US |
