Abstract/Description: | Convergence of moist easterly winds and conducive upper level features caused scattered to widespread rain/thundershowers over northwest India (Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh) yesterday. Thundersqualls and hailstorm also occured at isolated places over the region. Similar weather is likely to continue over this region during next 3 days. • Fairly widespread to widespread rain/thundershowers are likely over Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during next 3-4 days and scattered to Fairly widespread rain/thundershowers over Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar & Jharkhand during next 3 days. Thundersqualls (50-60 kmph) and hailstorm at isolated places are also likely over the region during this period. ♦ Isolated to scattered rain/thundershower likely over south peninsular India during next 4-5 days. ♦ Heat wave conditions very likely to prevail over Vidarbha during next 3 days and over Telangana during 2 days. • The low pressure area over south Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal and associated cyclonic circulation extending upto mid-tropospheric levels persists. It is very likely to persist meandering over south Andaman Sea & adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal during next 4 days. The system is under continuous watch. |
