Abstract/Description: | The low pressure area has become less marked however, the associated cyclonic circulation lies over Kutch& neighbourhood and extends upto midtropospheric levels. A trough extends from this cyclonic circulation to Gangetic West Bengal across central India at low-mid tropospheric levels. Another cyclonic circulation lies over Eastcentral Arabian Sea off Maharashtra coast at mid-tropospheric levels. • Monsoon trough is active and lies to the south of its normal position. • Under the influence of above systems, widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls most likely to continue over Gujarat state, Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra (Ghat areas) during next 24 hours and decrease thereafter. • Strong southwesterly/westerly monsoonal flow prevailing over the Arabian sea and along & off west coast at lower tropospheric levels likely to continue for next 48 hours. • Under its influence, (i) Scattered heavy to very heavy falls with isolated extremely heavy falls very likely over Kerala & Mahe during next 2 days and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall during subsequent 3 days. (ii) Isolated heavy to very heavy falls also very likely over Coastal & South Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu during next 4 days. Isolated extremely heavy falls also likely over Coastal Karnataka during next 24 hours and over Tamil Nadu (Hilly regions of Nilgiri, Coimbatore and Theni districts) during next 48 hours. • A low pressure area is likely to develop over North & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal around 9 August, 2020. Under its influence, rainfall activity likely to increase over east & adjoining parts of central India from 9 August onwards. |
