Abstract/Description: | The Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘NIVAR’ over north coastal Tamilnadu moved northwestwards with a speed of 13 kmph during past six hours, weakened into a cyclonic storm and lay centred at 0830 hrs IST of 26th November, 2020 over north coastal Tamilnadu near Lat. 12.6°N and Long 79.4°E, about 85 km northnorthwest of Puducherry and about 95 km west-southwest of Chennai. The Cyclonic Storm ‘NIVAR’ would continue to move northwestwards and weaken further into a Deep Depression during next 06 hours and into a Depression by subsequent 06 hours. • Under its influence, (i) Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall/thunderstorm activity with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places with isolated extremely heavy falls likely to occur over Chittoor, Kurnool, Prakasam; Cuddappa districts of Andhra Pradesh and adjoining southeast Telangana and Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places likely over north Tamil Nadu, remaining districts of Andhra Pradesh and southeast Telangana on 26th Nov, 2020. (ii) Fishermen are advised not to venture into Southwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal along & off Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts and south Andhra Pradesh coast till night of 26th November, 2020. Also total suspension of fishing operations is also advised for these areas over the same period. • Due to likely fall in minimum temperatures over northwest India, Cold wave condition at isolated places likely over Punjab, during 27th & 28th, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi during 26th to 28th and North Rajasthan during 28-30 November 2020. |
