| dc.description.abstract | Under the Indian Act on ‘Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers Rights’ enacted in 2001, nine oilseed crops were notified for registration vide Notification no. S.O. 993(E) of the Gazette of India Part II-Section 3 (ii) No. 828, dated April 30, 2010. Varieties of these crops notified (under section 5 of Seeds Act, 1966) and released either at central or state level since 1995-96 have been registered as extant varieties. Applications were also filed for VCK and new candidate varieties as per eligibility criteria defined in the PPV&FR Act, 2001. Crop specific guidelines for DUS testing have been published in the Plant Variety Journal of India Vol. 03, No. 10, 2009 and can be downloaded from the website of the Authority (www.plantauthority.gov.in). Design and layout of DUS plots, recording of observations and centres designated for conducting DUS tests have been described. | en_US |
