dc.description.abstract | The carbofuran insecticide when mixed with Azolla inoculum increased the growth and nitrogen fixation of Azolla pinnam during its cultivation in rice field with and without rice. The biomass produced by Azolla grown as basal and dual Ist (20 'days after planting) and Ilnd (45 days after planting) crop with application of 1.0 kg a. i, ha-1 carbofuran was 27,9-39.8, 41.7-63.9 and 42.9-114% more than control, respectively, which showed 45.5-46.4, 31.0-85.0 and 45.6-131% more nitrogen fixation, respectively. Application of carbofuran along with Azolla also increased the number of tillers, plant height, panicle number, panicle weight and grain weight of the rice plant. The panicle number, grain and straw yields in insecticide-treated field were 13.9-17.3, 16.4-20.3 and 23.5-76,5% more than control, respectively. | en_US |
