dc.description | Banana, otherwise known as "Kalpatharu" is one of the most important fruit crops in India, which contributes about 32 per cent oftotal fruit production. Banana ranks first in production and second in area among the fruits grown in India accounting for the production of 16.8 million tonnes from an area of 4.9 lakh hectares, | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | A pot culture experiment was conducted to understand the plant growth, physiological and biochemical changes in banana due to root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita on cv, Robusta (AAA). The highest phenol content and peroxidase activity was observed in plants inoculated with 10,000 nematodes per plant. Accumulation of sugar was higher in un inoculated plants (0.60g/1 OOg) compared to the plants inoculated with 10,000 nematodes (0.30/100g) which recorded the lowest concentration of sugar. The physiological parameters like chlorophyll content were recorded maximum in un inoculated plants whereas the lowest chlorophyll content was observed in plants inoculated with 10,000 nematodes, | en_US |
