dc.description.abstract | Tor putitora is the most economically important for both food and game fish in the Trans Himalayan region. A number of 15 microsatellite loci from a mahseer (T. tambroides) and snow trout (Schizothorax richardonii) were used to study their utility for cross species amplification in T. putitora. Seven of them successfully optimized through PCR. Moderate levels of heterozygosity (0.931-0.000) with allele number ranged from 4 -9 and were observed for these seven loci. The present study confirmed the transferability of some heterologous microsatellite loci from one species to another. These seven set of markers would be useful to investigate a fine scale population genetic analysis in T. putitora. | en_US |
