| dc.description.abstract | Banana stem weevil, O. longicollis is the key pest, limits the production of bananas and plantain in India. Scanning Electron Microscopic studies revealed the presence of various types of sensory structures in mouth parts, elytra and tarsus. Banana stem weevil shows a high degree of host plant preference. The ability of weevil to distinguish acceptable host plants may be aided by the presence of array of chemoreceptors on the antennae, mouth parts and tibia. | en_US |
