Assessment of functional clothing for flour mill workers

Abstract

In various industries, worker’s health is not given so much importance due to ignorance, exploitation, illiteracy and poverty. Hazardous working conditions at flour mill may lead towards the degradation of worker’s health and thus supports the onset of severe diseases like respiratory tract disorders and infections. Therefore, protective work wears are the only way to prevent them from inhaling the flour dust. Present study is based on the development of protective wears and their wear trial and wearer’s response and its adoption feasibility. The developed designs of Apron with and without hood, scarf and hood mask, pleated, beak, triangular mask and gloves, were found suitable for the given purpose as the maximum number of respondents accepted that all the functional wear were found suitable in all the parameters like design, easy wear and care, fabric properties, wearing time, suitability/protection, durability/serviceability and adoption feasibility as well.
