dc.description.abstract | Phytoremediation of soils contaminated with heavy metals has received considerable attention in recent years. Because of the contamination of food and vegetable crops with heavy metals, greater emphasis has been given to the cultivation of floriculture plants for remediation of the contaminated soils. In the present experiment, the response of rose to soil chromium and its possible use for remediation of soils contaminated with chromium was examined. The study revealed that, the rose plant has great tolerance and stronger ability to accumulate Cr. The partitioning of Cr revealed a higher concentration of Cr in roots (1,985 μg g−1 dry wt.) followed by shoots (760 μg g−1 dry wt.). It was concluded that, rose plant has great potential to be used for phytostabilization of soils contaminated with moderate levels of chromium. | en_US |
