Abstract/Description: | The study was undertaken in Kerala to evaluate thechallenges of dairy farming at research, extension and farmers’level. A total number of 200 respondent farmers and stakeholdersfrom research and extension domain in the study area were selectedrandomly. Garret’s ranking technique was adopted to analyze theconstraints faced by the stakeholders in the study area. Themajor constraint faced by the dairy farmers were the high cost ofcattle feed and high cost of veterinary service and medicine wasthe second major constraint experienced by the farmers. Theimportant constraints faced by the officials involved in extensionservices included implementation of large number of schemes inPanchayat and block level followed by lack of transportationfacilities to make field visit. In research system, the majorconstraint was the prioritized mandate of teaching and extensionfollowed by time constraint for technology transfer |
