Abstract/Description: | TERMS LIKE ' IMPORTANT RAIN' , 'INTENSE RAIN' AND 'EXCESSIVE RAIN' HAVE BEEN DEFINED . WISCHMEIER's CRITERION OF 0.5 INCH MINIMUM RAIN FOR SELECTING THE IMPORTANT RAINS WAS FOUND TO BE BEST SUITED TO OOTACAMUND CONDITIONS BECAUSE OF THE LARGE NUMBER OF RAINY DAYS AND LONG DURATION RAINS. 25% RAINS COMPRISING 68% AMOUNT AND 70 % ENERGY ARE FOUND TO BE IMPORTANT FOR THIS AREA. |
