| Abstract/Description: | RUNOFF AND SOIL LOSS STUDIES FOR VARIOUS REGIONS IN INDIA HAVE BEEN REVIEWED . THE RESULTS INDICATE THAT RUNOFF AND SOIL LOSS WERE MAXIMUM IN DENUDED SHIWALIK HILLS ( RUNOFF OF 50% OF RAINFALL AND SOIL LOSS OF ABOUT 80 TONNES/ ha ) FOLLOWED BY CULTIVATED AREAS OF BLACK SOIL ( SEMI- ARID) REGION ( SOIL LOSS - 64.5 TONNES/ha ) . WHEN SOIL AD WATER CONSERVATION MEASURES WERE IMPOSED IN THE AREA , THE SOIL LOSS WAS CONSIDERABLY REDUCED AND MOISTURE WAS CONSERVED WHICH HELPED IN MAXIMIZING PRODUCTION. |
