dc.description.abstract | THE RESEARCH WORK DONE ON VARIOUS FACTORS OF THE USLE UNDER INDIAN CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN PRESENTED IN THE PAPER. ISO- ERODENT MAP OF INDIA HAS BEEN DEVELOPED SHOWING VALUES OF R THROUGHOUT INDIA. VALUES OF K ( RANGING FROM 0.04 TO 0.17) FOR VARIOUS SOIL TYPES OF INDIA HAVE BEEN WORKED OUT. COVER AND MANAGEMENT EFFECTS FOR KHARAGPUR , KOTA AND VASAD WERE EVALUATED FROM THE DATA FOR EACH OF THREE CROP GROWTH STAGE PERIODS. FOR OTHER STATIONS THE VALUES OF C WERE DETERMINED ON THE BASIS OF SEASONAL SOIL LOSS DATA AND MAY BE CONSIDERED AT FIRST APPROXIMATION. P VALUES FOR VARIOUS EROSION CONTROL PRACTICES . eg CONTOUR CULTIVATION, TRIP CROPPING, CONTOUR BUNDING AND BENCH TERRACING UNDER VARYING SLOPES HAVE BEEN REPORTED. STUDIES CONDUCTED AT KHARAGPUR , LUCKNOW AND COIMBATORE SHOWED THAT THE SOIL LOSS INCREASED WITH THE INCREASE IN DEGREE OF SLOPE. THESE INFORMATION CAN BE USED TO ASSESS THE GROSS SOIL EROSION UNDER DIFFERENT SOIL- CROP MANAGEMENT CONDITIONS IN INDIA. | en_US |
