| Abstract/Description: | This report highlights the recent work pertaining to the theme ‘Natural resources monitoring, desertification and its control’ carried out by ICAR-Central Arid Zone Research Institute. Since, CAZRI addresses the issues related to arid regions of the country, the article presents a short appraisal of the arid ecosystem, especially the Thar Desert, in India, work on various erosion processes like wind erosion & water erosion, measurements of soil loss and sediment and desertification status and its combating strategies. |
