dc.description.abstract | STUDIES WERE UNDERTAKEN AT DEHRADUN ( INDIA) WITH AN OBJECT TO FIND OUT THE EFFECT OF MULCH AND MINIMUM TILLAGE ON SOIL AND WATER LOSS IN MAIZE. IT WAS OBSERVED THAT THE USE OF MULCH CONSIDERABLY REDUCED SOIL LOSS FROM 36.5 TO 6.2 tonnes/ha AND WATER LOSS FROM 49 TO 22% OF TOTAL RAINFALL. MINIMUM TILLAGE ALSO REDUCED SOIL LOSS FROM 36.5 TO 29.2 tonnes/ha . THE CORRELATION COEFFICIENT BETWEEN RAINFALL AND RUNOFF WAS HIGHLY SIGNIFICANT. THE EROSION CONTROL PRACTICE FACTOR 'P' FOR MULCH ND MINIMUM TILLAGE WORKED OUT AS 0.17 AND 0.80 ESPECTIVELY. | en_US |
