| Abstract/Description: | EVALUATION OF EIGHT VARIETIES OF COTTON TRIED UNDER RAINFED CONDITIONS OVER A PERIOD OF FOUR YEARS, INDICATED THAT AMONG ALL VARIETIES , PRH- 30/2 POSSESSED ALL THE BEST FIBRE CHARACTERISTICS WHICH ARE MOST DESIRABLE FOR THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY. GIVEN ADEQUATE PLANT PROTECTION MEASURES , THIS VARIETY APPEARED TO BE QUIET PROMISING FOR THE RAINFED REGION OF THE TRACT. HOWEVER, VARIETY W-1 WAS FOUND UNSUITABLE FOR THE TRACT IN VIEW OF ITS LONG DURATION , SHORT STAPLE, LOW GINNING PERCENTAGE AND POOR YIELD. |
