| Abstract/Description: | A FIELD EXPERIMENT COMPRISING THREE MOISTURE REGIMES ( IRRIGATION AT 0.7 atm TENSION AT 22.5 , 30.0 AND 37.5 cm SOIL DEPTH) IN MAIN- PLOTS AND THREE METHODS OF PLANTING ( CONVENTIONAL , SPACE TRANSPLANTING AND STUBBLE SLIPS) AND TWO SYSTEMS OF CROPPING ( SOLE CANE AND CANE+MOONG) IN SUB- PLOTS WAS LAID OUT IN SPLIT PLOT DESIGN AT IARI FARM, NEW DELHI DURING THE YEAR 1982-83 AND 1983-84 . ALL THE YIELD ATTRIBUTES , CANE AND SUGAR YIELD WERE MORE IN IRRIGATION AT 0.7 atm TENSION AT 2.5 cm SOIL DEPTH. SPACE TRANSPLANTING PRODUCED SYNCHRONUS CLUMPS , MORE CANE AND SUAGR YIELD. GROWING OF MOONG AS INTERCROP GAVE AN ADDITIONAL NET RETURN OF RS 1940/ha WHICH WAS 21.1% MORE THAN SOLE CANE STAND |
