| dc.description.abstract | PRESENTS THE RESULTS OF A STUDY CONDUCTED AT BELLARY ( KARNATAKA) DURING 1978-81 WHICH INDICATED THAT MULTIPLE CROPPING SEQUENCE OF BAJRA- COWPEA -JOWAR RECORDED MAXIMUM TOTAL GRAIN YIELD OF 10.28 t/ha IN 258 DAYS FOLLOWED BY BAJRA- CORIANDER-JOWAR YIELDING 9.26t/ha IN 262 DAYS. THE MAXIMUM NET RETURN OF RS 18,850 AND RS 17,981/ha WERE ALSO RECORDED IN BOTH THE TRIPLE CROPPING SEQUENCES WHICH WERE 55.0 AND 47.8% MORE THAN THAT OF THE MAIZE- SAFFLOWER CROPPING SEQUENCE. THE MAXIMUM YIELD PER UNIT OF WATER APPLIED WAS RECORDED IN JOWAR CROP (9.92 kg/ha/mm OF WATER) WHEN SOWN AFTER COWPEA FOLLOWED BY MAIZE (9.86) AND LOWEST WATER APPLICATION EFFICIENCY (2.51 kg/ha/mm) WAS OBSERVED IN CORIANDER. | en_US |
