dc.description.abstract | The study was conducted during 2000-01 in the Integrated Wasteland Development Project (IWDP), Antisar watershed to study the people's participation in planning of soil and water conservation programme. The study revealed that 79.1% male and female respondents exhibited moderate level of participation in the planning of the soil and water conservation (SWC) programme. About 12% respondents showed less participation and 9% of them participated high level in planning of the soil and water conservation programme. The overall extent of People's Participation Index (PPI) was found to be 72.6% for male and 72.0 % for female. Thus, overall extent of participation of male and female farmers in planning of the SWC programme for Antisar watershed development was about high level. The study also revealed that the variables viz. socio-economic status, land holding, farm power, social participation, risk preference, knowledge and attitude were positively and significantly correlated with the participation of male farmers in planning of the SWC programme. Whereas, the variables socio-economic status, social participation, knowledge and attitude were significantly positively correlated with the participation of female farmers in the planning and the income was significantly negatively correlated with the participation of female farmers in planning of SWC programme. | en_US |
