| Abstract/Description: | A STUDY WAS CONDUCTED FOR SIX YEARS TO FIND OUT THE EFFECT OF ROTATIONS AND SPACINGS ON FUELWOOD AND FODDER YIELD OF LEUCAENA LEUCOCEPHALA IN SHIWALIK FOOTHILLS . THE ROTATIONS TRIED WERE 1,2 AND 3 YEARS WITH 1m X 2m , 1m x 1m and 1 m x 0.5 m SPACINGS. MAXIMUM TOTAL BIOMASS ( 50. 6 t/ha) WAS RECORDED WITH 1m x 0.5 m SPACING AND THREE YEARS ROTATION. THE GREEN BIOMASS PRODUCTION WAS INFLUENCED DIRECTLY BY THE SEASONAL POPULATION. ITS YIELD INCREASED WITH INCREASING PERIODS OF ROTATION AND HIGHER PLANT POPULATION. THE HIGHEST NET RETURN OF RS 5,522 WAS OBTAINED WITH 1m x1m SPACING AND THREE YEAR'S ROTATION. |
