Abstract/Description: | Silixol, (Privi Life sciences Pvt., Mumbai) was used to study the effect on plant growth and yield of sunflower under drought. For this, DRSF -108 variety was sown on 23-11-12. As the most sensitive stage for water stress for sunflower is 20 days before flowering to 20 days after flowering, plants were subjected to stress from 27 to 80 DAS by withholding irrigation. Silixol spray @ 3.0 and 4.5 ml per litre was given as either 1 or 2 sprays at 40 and 55 DAS. For comparison, 1 or 2 sprays of urea (2%) given on the same days. Silixol spray did not result in any increase in seed yield per plant in both control and stress conditions though it increased TDM in control. Whereas 2% urea spray was found beneficial under stress situation and increased yield by 13 and 22% with 1 and 2 sprays respectively. |
