dc.description.abstract | AN ATTEMPT HAS BEEN MADE TO COMPARE THE RELATIVE EFFICIENCY OF TWO ORGANICS VIZ FARMYARD MANURE (FYM) AND LEAFLITTER (LL) ON GROWTH , DRY MATTER YIELD AND CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF EULALIOPSIS BINATA ( BHABAR GRASS). CHANGES IN MINE SPOIL CHARACTERISTICS WERE ALSO ESTIMATED AT CONCLUSION OF THIS STUDY. LL WAS SUPERIOR OVER FYM AND 20 Mg/ha WAS FOUND TO BE THE EFFECTIVE AND OPTIMUM DOSE. HEIGHT, NUMBER OF TILLERS AND CLUMP DIAMETER CORRELATED WELL WITH DRY MATTER YIELD. NO DEFINITE TREND WAS OBSERVED IN ELEMENTAL COMPOSITION WITH DIFFERENT TREATMENTS BUT UPTAKE OF N, P K , Ca AND Mg FOLLOWED BY THE PATTERN OF DRY MATTER YIELD. SPOIL PROPERTIES IMPROVED WITH THE ADDITION OF ORGANICS ( FYM &LL) , pH, CaCO3, INFILTRATION RATE AND BULK DENSITY DECREASED AFTER 2 YEARS , WHEREAS ORGANIC CARBON CONTENT AND WATER HOLDING CAPACITY INCREASED DUE TO ADDITION OF ORGANIC MATERIALS. | en_US |
