| Abstract/Description: | OUT OF EIGHT ACACIA SPP. TRIED IN THE RAVINES OF GUJARAT , ACACIA BENTHAMII( SOUTH AFRICA) GAVE THE BEST HEIGHT AND DIAMETER GROWTH AND 95.8 % SURVIVAL.ACACIA TORTILIS ( ISRAEL) GAVE 100% SURVIVAL BUT ON THE BASIS OF OVERALL PERFORMANCE IT WAS RATED AS THE SECOND BEST SPP. THE INDIGENOUS SPECIES LIKE A CATECHU , A NILOTICA AND A LEUCOPHLOEA GAVE POORER GROWTH AS COMPARED TO THE ABOVE EXOTICS. A EBURNEA WAS THE ONLY INDIGENOUS SPECIES WHICH GAVE REASONABLY GOOD PERFORMANCE. |
