| Abstract/Description: | Not A THE PAPER REPORTS DATA ON HYDROLOGY FROM 17 CATCHMENTS SITUATED IN THE NILGIRIS. THEIR INTER- RELATIONSHIPS WERE DETERMINED. ALL THE CATCHMENTS WERE FOUND TO STAND THE TEST FOR HOMOGENEITY. THE MONTHS FROM JANUARY TO APRIL WERE DEFICIT MONTHS, EVEN THOUGH THE AVAILABLE SOIL MOISTURE WAS NOT COMPLETELY DEPLETED. THIS WAS DUE TO ELEVATION SYNONYMOUS TO ATMOSPHERE WITH MODERATE DEMAND AND NON- UNIFORM RAINFALL DISTRIBUTION. THE CATCHMENTS ARE SUBJECT TO DROUGHT CONDITIONS EVEN AT RELATIVELY HIGHER SOIL MOISTURE LEVEL, WHICH CALLS FOR EFFICIENT WATER MANAGEMENT. |
