dc.description.abstract | IN A STUDY CONDUCTED AT KOTA ( RAJASTHAN) , THE EFECT OF SIX VEGETATIVE COVERS ( NATURAL COVER, CULTIVATED FALLOW, CYNODON DACTYLON , GROUND NUT, BLACKGRAM AND JOWAR) ON RUNOFF AND SOIL LOSS WAS DETERMINED IN RUNOFF PLOTS IN CLAY SOIL ON 0.5% AND 1.0% SLOPE. ON 0.5% SLOPE, MINIMUM WATER LOSS WAS UNDER NATURAL COVER WHICH WAS DOMINATED BY GRASSES LIKE DICHANTHIUM ANNULATUM FOLLOWED BY CYNODON DACTYLON. AMONG CULTIVATED CROPS , GROUND NUT GAVE THE MINIMUM WATER LOSS WHILE JOWAR CROP THE MAXIMUM. BLACKGRAM WAS INTERMEDIATE . WATER LOSS WAS MAXIMUM FOR THE CULTIVATED FALLOW. SIMILAR TREND WAS ON 1% SLOPE EXCEPT THAT QUANTITY OF WATER LOSS INCREASED BUT THERE WAS NO DEFINITE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SLOPE PERCENTAGE AND WATER LOSS. SOIL LOSS WAS MAXIMUM UNDER CULTIVATED FALLOW IN BOTH THE SLOPES. AMONG CULTIVATED CROPS, JOWAR PERMITTED MAXIMUM AND GROUND NUT MINIMUM SOIL LOSS, SOIL LOSS UNDER NATURAL COVER AND CYNODON DACTYLON WAS MINIMUM. | en_US |
