| Abstract/Description: | THE PAPER DEALS WITH ECONOMICS UNDER FOUR INTERCROPPING TREATMENTS : BLACK WATTLE+ GRASS LEGUME MIXTURE, BLACK WATTLE+ SCENTED GERANIUM , BLACK WATTLE+ POTATO AND BLACK WATTLE+ POTATO IN FIRST YEAR ONLY ( HYPOTHETICAL) AND COMPARES IT WITH PURE TREE SPECIES ( BLACK WATTLE ALONE) TO RECOMMEND THE ECONOMICALLY MOST EFFICIENT ONE FOR MASS ADOPTION IN THE SLOPING LANDS OF NILGIRIS. THE ECONOMIC ANALYSIS DONE FOR THE ROTATION PERIOD OF 12 YEARS ( 1980 TO 1991) BY BENEFIT AND COSTS AT 10,15 AND 20 % AND INTERNAL RATE OF RETURN CRITERION REVEALED THAT BLACK WATTLE+ GRASS- LEGUME MIXTURE, BLACK WATTLE+ SCENTED GERANIUM AND BLACK WATTLE+ POTATO ARE MORE ECONOMICALLY EFFICIENT INTERCROPPING COMBINATIONS. |
