Abstract/Description: | We have standardized the energy and resource-efficient maize cropping system under conservation agriculture in Manipur. Among various cropping systems and land management practices treatment, Vegetable cowpea in Conventional tillage followed by maize + cowpea/ricebean in zero tillage with their residues retention enhanced the system productivity, water productivity, energy use efficiency, net farm income and soil health as compared to other land management practices and cropping system. The vegetable pea was sown in the month of the first fortnight of February and its pod was harvested in the month last fortnight of May. Pulses (cowpea/rice bean) intercropped with maize sown in the first fortnight of June and harvested in the Last fortnight of October. |
