Abstract/Description: | Bengaluru city was selected as the studyarea for studying the market status of honey. Thedata collected from the owners of food bazaars, bak-ery shops, and pharmaceuticals. Randomly 120 shopswere selected and honey related products, differentbrand names of honey that are available in marketingshops, cost, label information and type of packagingwere studied. Among different brand names of honeyin Bengaluru, Dabur is the only brand, marketed inboth food bazaars and pharmaceuticals which ac-counts to 90%. The majority of the food bazaars, thatis 52.5% were selling honey at Rs 31—40 per 100 g ascompared to the 32.5% of the food bazaars selling atthe price between Rs 21 to 30 followed by the 15.0%of the food bazaars were selling honey per 100 g atthe range of cost Rs 40 to 50. All bakery shops usedDabur honey in the preparation; 100.0% of the bak-ery shops used polythene cover as a packaging ma-terial and ordinary sealing for the bakery products. |
