dc.description.abstract | The mean value of genotypes indicates that the indigenous materials have sufficient amount of variation for most of the traits among homozygous population. Correlation and regression analysis were carried out in order to quantity contribution of characters towards yield in off-season bitter gourd. The characters like number of fruits per plant and average weight of fruit have significant and positive correlation with yield. The step down regression pointed out that total variability in yield is explained by set of 11 independent characters up to 93.61% which is enough to believe the linear relationship of predictors. The characters like number of fruits per plant and average weight of fruit together contributed 91.68%, implies the major contribution of characters towards yield of the crop. However, average weight alone contributed 65.82% to the total yield. | en_US |
