| Abstract/Description: | The chemical composition of semen and ovarian fluid of Indian major carps, Labeorohita and Cirrhinus mrigala were analysed and compared with data reported in literature for other species. The ions analysed were sodium, potassium and calcium. The comparison between species has shown an interesting pattern for each species. the results are discussed in relevance to their potential use in formulating sperm activating media and cryopreservation extenders. |
