dc.description.abstract | Males and farnales of Then us orientalis were observed to mature at about 107 mm in total length. The ovary in the immature stage in May progressed to maturity and the female got berried by September. A definite spawning period was witnessed between September and April covering a major peak in November ard a minor in March. An individual spawned twice in a year. Segregation of sexes was not conspicuous at any particular size or month. There was a marginal preponderance of negligible nature of one sex or the other. Males thove 230 mm and females above 250 mm were not contributing to the fisher’. Fecundity showed a linear relationship between the number of eggs and the length of the lobster. A female of 165 mm produced 22,050 eggs while another of 240 mm produced 53,280 eggs. | en_US] |
