| Abstract/Description: | The croakers form an important demersal fishery resource of India. The sciaenid fishery in India during the decade 1984-'95 which had been yielding 1,22,464 tonnes annually formed 6.16% of the average marine fish production of the country. The state-wise analysis during the period showed that 12.28% of the country's sciaenid catch came from Orissa, where its annual average was 14,680 tonnes forming 29.21% of the total fish production. |
