| Abstract/Description: | Assam is said to take its name from 'Asom'that alludes to the state's uneven topography comprising of both hills and plains. The state, situated in the northeast region of India covers an area of 78,438 sq km. It is bordered by Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya, Bangladesh and West Bengal. |
