dc.description.abstract | The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of rice based distiller dried grain solubles (RDDGS) with or without enzyme supplementation on growth performance, immune organs and serum biochemical parameters in broilers. Four hundred day old commercial broilers (Vencobb 400) were randomly allotted to 10 treatments. The basal diet consisted of corn and soybean meal. The experimental diets were prepared with inclusion of RDDGS at 4 levels (4, 8, 12 and 16%) with or without enzyme supplementation. The feed and water were provided ad lib during the entire experimental period of 42 days. The results revealed that the average cumulative body weight gain was significantly (P<0.05) higher in birds fed with 12% RDDGS with enzyme (576.9g) during starter phase, 16% RDDGS without enzyme (1308.1g and 1852.1g) during finisher phase. The average feed consumption was significantly higher in birds fed with 8 and 12% of RDDGS with enzyme (3053.3 and 3051.1g) supplemented groups. Cumulative FCR was numerically better (1.605) in birds fed with 16% RDDGS without enzyme supplementation compared to other treatments at 42d of age. The results revealed that no significant difference was observed between control and various experimental groups in slaughter parameters and immune organ weights. The study revealed that there was significant (P<0.05) difference among the different dietary treatments on serum cholesterol and total protein. It is concluded that, 16% RDDGS without enzyme supplementation was more effective among all the dietary treatments in terms of body weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio and serum biochemical parameters of commercial broilers. | English |
