| Abstract/Description: | It was tragic moment when several parts of Sumatra, Indonesia, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sri Lanka and India were devastated by deadly tsunami tidal waves with speed of about 500km hr-1 on Sunday 26th december 2004. The tsunami caused extensive damage in southern regions of India and Andaman Nicobar islands affecting total of 2,260 km of coastline. The waves are reported to as high as 3-10 meters in southern India and penetrated 300m to 3km inland. |
