Complete Details of Technology: :
A technology for the management of shoot borer, Conogethes punctiferalis, infesting ginger and turmeric using entomopathogenic fungus, Metarhizium pingshaense, has been developed. The technology involves spraying M. pingshaense at a dose of 1 × 107 conidia/mL, starting from the second fortnight of July (or 45 days after planting) till the first fortnight of November at 21-day intervals. This technology can be adopted for organic production of ginger and turmeric.
Brief Description of Technology Including Salient Features:
The technology involves spraying M. pingshaense at a dose of 1 × 107 conidia/mL, starting from the second fortnight of July (or 45 days after planting) till the first fortnight of November at 21-day intervals. This technology can be adopted for organic production of ginger and turmeric.
Benefits/Utility :
The technology developed is eco-friendly, safe to natural enemies and other non-target organisms. This technology can be adopted in organic production of ginger and turmeric.
Precaution With The Technology : Nil
Time Of Application Use : Generally in the evening hours or when there is less sunshine
How To Use :
Spraying Metarhizium pingshaense at a dose of 1 × 107 conidia/mL, starting from the second fortnight of July (or 45 days after planting) till the first fortnight of November at 21-day intervals.
Impact, If Adopted :
The technology if adapted will reduce the pesticide use in ginger and turmeric
TargetUsers/Stake holders : Ginger and turmeric growers
Others : The technology can also be used to control other Lepidopteran pests beloning to the Family, Crambidae.
