A two day annual action plan and review workshop of KVKs involved in the Technology Demonstration Component of NICRA in Zone VI and Zone VII was held at KVK Rhiboi, Umiam, Meghalaya  from 24-25th  April, 2018. The inaugural session of  workshop was chaired by Dr Narendra Prakash, Director Actg, ICAR RC, NEH  and co-chaired by Dr Bidyut.C.Deka, Director-ATARI (Zone-VII) and by Dr A.K.Tripathi Director-ATARI (Zone-VI). Dr. Deka in his welcome address spoke about the climatic vulnerabilities being addressed by the KVKs in both the zones and the significant achievements of various KVKs in the zone. Dr Tripathi in his remarks spoke about the need for focusing interventions for the specific climatic variability and emphasised the need for quantification of the impact of interventions. Dr K.Nagasree, Co-PI, TDC of NICRA, ICAR-CRIDA, in the opening remarks briefly summarized the essence of technology demonstration component of NICRA and the expectations for the next phase and discussed approach for scaling up of the proven resilient practices in the NICRA villages which is to be adopted in the present phase of NICRA.  Dr. Narendra Prakash, Director Actg, ICAR RC, NEH emphasised the need for greater involvement of the departments and policy makers in the programme for the integration of the identified resilient practices in the developmental programmes and for scaling up. Dr R Bordoloi, Pr.Scientist (AE), ICAR-ATARI, UMIAM and coordinator NICRA proposed formal vote of thanks. Two publications on TDC experiences and one video film were released during the occasion.

          During the workshop the progress of work during 2017-18 was reviewed. The KVK Scientists  of 21 KVKs from KVK Tirap, Arunachal Pradesh, KVK Cachar, Assam,KVK Senapati, Manipur, KVK Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya, KVK Lunglei, Mizoram, KVK Dimapur, Nagaland, KVK East Sikkim, Sikkim, KVK West Tripura, Tripura, KVK West Kameng, Arunachal Pradesh, KVK Dhubri, Assam, KVK Imphal East, Manipur, KVK Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, KVK Serchhip, Mizoram, KVK Mokokchung, Nagaland, KVK Dhalai, Tripura, KVK West siang, Arunachal Pradesh, KVK Dibrugarh, Assam, KVK Ukhrul, Manipur, KVK West Garo hills, Meghalaya, KVK Mon, Nagaland, KVK  Sonitpur, Assam, KVK Phek, Nagaland, KVK Karbianglong, Assam presented the highlights of achievements and progress of action plan during the  zonal review  workshop. Consolidated year wise progress under different modules was presented while highlighting up scalable technologies for horizontal expansion to adjoining villages. The work done by the KVKs and the action plans proposed were reviewed and numbers of suggestions were made.
