Abstract/Description:	...............and miles to go ! India is a major global player in production and export of natural resins and gums (NRGs). The NRGs production during 2013- 14 was 11.60 lakh tons with export of 4.83 lakh tons contributing Rs. 12.171 thousand crores. The NRGs play an important role in livelihood of the farmers; of the 150 disadvantaged districts identified by the Planning Commission, NRGs are important source of income to farmers in around seventy. Indian Institute of Natural Resins and Gums is mandated to undertake research on the complete commodity chain-from production to end products for the consumers. Therefore, it has to respond to technological requirement for production, processing as well as application/product development of NRGs.
