Abstract/Description: Toxie component of the culture filtrates isolates of Exserohium turcicum race-2 (Jashipura), race -3 (Godhra) And race -4 (Nagenahalli). were separated by thin layer chromatography. Fractionation of crude extract gave two fraction each in race-2 and race-3: and five fraction in race-4 .Each fraction was patriarchally purified by preparative thin layer chromatography and evaluate for pathogenic characterization using detached leaf bioassay bioassay technique Only one fraction each in rcIce-2. 3 and 4 with Rf values 0.23, 0.36 and 0.37, respectively was able to producc characteristic oblong to boat shaped brown lesions on detached leaf of inbred line CM202. It was concluded that variable toxic compounds are responsible for the symptom development.
