Abstract/Description: | Sixty four advances backcross lines were grouped into two major clusters based on nutritional quality and agronomic traits using wards clustering method. First cluster consists of only two varieties TMV 2 and GPBD 4, whereas second cluster contains newly developed advanced backcross lines. Pod yield per plant, secondary branches per plant, linoleic acid, oleic acid to linoleic acid ratio and polyunsaturated to saturated fatty acid ratio showed high heritability with high PCV and GCV estimates, indicating scope for selection. Oleic acid and oleic acid to linoleic acid ratio are correlated significant negatively with total saturated fatty acids (-0.869* and - 0.596* *) and linoleic acid (-0.972* * and -0.835* *) respectively. High oleate advanced backcross lines could be served as raw materials for further genetic improvement as well as diversifying the groundnut for different nutritional quality traits. |
