dc.description.abstract | A study was conducted among sixty poultry farmers from four blocks of Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh to access their knowledge level about scientific broiler farming. In order to measure the knowledge level of poultry farmers about commercial broiler farming, structured interview schedule was developed. Further, range method was used to classify the farmers into low, medium and high knowledge level. One-way ANOVA was also applied to test significance difference in knowledge level amongst low, medium and large poultry farmers. The study revealed that majority of poultry farmers (73.33%) had low knowledge level with respect to bio security and diseases control practices, medium knowledge level with respect to scientific housing (48.33%) and feeding management practices (51.67%) and high knowledge level with respect to brooding practices (61.67%). The study further revealed that, overall, three fourth poultry farmers (75%) had medium level of knowledge on scientific broiler faming. While, majority of small (85.29%) and medium poultry farmers (82.35%) had medium level knowledge, but in large poultry farmers category, majority (77.78%) were in high knowledge level. The small and medium poultry farmers were highly significantly different from large poultry farmers with respect to knowledge level on scientific broiler farming. Based on the present findings, it is concluded that poultry farmers should be given training in knowledge deficient aspects of scientific broiler farming, hence, there is need to develop training modules with greater emphasis on bio- security and diseases control practices. | en_US |
