Abstract/Description: | Screening of genotypes of groundnut was undertaken to identify the iron-efficient genotypes with the ability to grow and tolerate the iron deficiency in calcareous soil. It was observed that the runner genotypes were more tolerant than the erect ones. Among the cultivated varieties GAUG 10, Punjab 1, GG 11, Chandra, M 13, OF 70-103, USMG 84-1 and Somnath of runner group and GG 2, J1_, 24, MH 2, M1-1 4, TG 17, and VR 12 of errect group were found to be tolerant to iron chlorosis. The advanced breeding lines, PKVG 8, PBS 89, PBS 145,, Kaditi 3 Sel, 7-6-24, 4-9-1, and 7-6-13 and germplasrn with NRCG Ace Nos. 1308. 3498, 7347, 4255, 5513, 6450, 6820, 7258, 7417, 7607 and 7085 were tolerant to iron chlorosis. Some of the identified highly susceptible genotypes were VR 13, Chico, ICGS 11, ICGS 44, ICGS 65, Rebut 33-1, and GAUG 1 among released varieties, AK NRCG-1 and PBDR 13 among advanced breeding lines and NRCG Ace No. 162, 7472 and NcAc 17090 of erniplasm |
