dc.description.abstract | In India, sugarcane is the key raw material for the production of sugar. Most of the sugarcane produced in India is a 10-12 month crop planted during January to March. Besides, 18 to 20 months crop is also practiced in northern Maharashtra, parts of Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Sugarcane yield in Telangana was considerably low (nearly half) compared to that of Maharashtra. The higher yield was observed in the northern districts of Telangana. The maximum yield (about 50 t/ha) was observed in Maharastra State., whereas the lowest yield (about 30t/ha) is recorded in Nizamabad district in Telangana State. | en_US |
