Abstract/Description: | This paper presents the results of a long-term fertilizer experiment conducted in 1986-2000 in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India, on two monocropping systems of rainfed cotton, Gossypium arboreum cv. AKH4/AKA 8401 and G. hirsutum cv. LRA 5166/LRK 516, to evaluate the sustainability of cotton yield under 13 nutrient management practices: N0P0K0, N60, N60P30, N60K30, N0P30K30+10 t farmyard manure (FYM), N60P30K30, N30P30K30+5 t FYM, N90, N90P45, N90K45, N0P30K30+15 t FYM, N90P45K45 and N45P45K45+7.5 t FYM. To obtain higher sustainable yield, the chemical fertilizer should be supplemented with organic and green manures. Tabulated data are provided on soil physical properties; trends in yield of the two cotton species in relation to rain; mean seed cotton yield and sustainability index for the two rainfed cotton species under different nutrient management practices. |
